With high celebration and activism going on in the city areas of Nepal, for the 16 days activism against women violence, a barbaric gang rape case has surfaced where an underage minor girl was raped many times by more than half a dozen men at different intervals of time at the Indo-Nepal cross border.
3 Nepal Police personnel have been held against the charge of raping a 15-year-old girl in Sarlahi. The arrested police personnel are Sanjit Karki, Ram Kumar Kumhal and Arbinda Mahato. They were arrested against the complaint launched by the victim’s family and friends.
According to the family, “Three local bus entrepreneurs took the girl to Malangwa on December 3 and raped her in a hotel room across the Indian border. She was then forwarded to the local police where they raped her before sending back to Malangwa. On December 4, the bus entrepreneurs boarded the girl to Kathmandu where the three police personnel raped the girl who had already been raped twice by over half dozen men in Nepal and India boarder. Later she was rescued by the college going youth who heard her scream from the hotel room where the police personnels were trying to rape her.”
Currently under the UNITE Campaign is extending Orange Day to 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, starting November 25, International Day to End Violence Against Women, through December 10, Human Rights Day.
The date of November 25 was chosen to commemorate the Mirabal sisters, three political activists Dominican ruler Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961) ordered brutally assassinate in 1960.
