Bhutanese Refugee caught with Nepali Citizenship and Passport in IOM premises

Kathmandu 30 April, 2012: Bhutanese refugee Jeet Bahadur Subba was caught red handed by Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police with a Nepali passport and citizen (number 041009/1070) in the premises of International Organization of Migration (IOM), Baluwatar.  Subba 29 was arrested in charge of obtaining Nepali passport and citizenship illegally. During the investigation Subba stated, “He acquired the legal documents by bribing Nrs 80,000 for two citizenships including his father’s and his. He had entered Nepal as a refugee at the age of 9 and was in process of being relocated in US by the IOM.

In acquaintance to that Subba was issued a MRP passport from Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 27, 2011 on the recommendation of the same.

According to the CIB, “There is a network of people who process and create legal documents for sending people abroad especially to USA and Canada where legal documents are obtained through illegal way in processing as refugees.”
