Lalitpur, March 26, 2012: The officials of the health department culled 8,500 chickens and 1,500 eggs in Lalitpur amidst the infection of avian influenza/ bird flu (H5N1). Kamal Ghimire whose farm was evaded for the infection tried to defend his livestock but in midst of the infection, the officials convinced him with the assurance of compensation and consideration.
The infection of Bird flu has been rampant across the country from last week where the sighting of infection in live stock has increased, though a direct infection from the livestock to human not been reported but the health department is on high alert.
The infection was tested positive in preventive measure to check the perimeter of Dhiren Gurung of Sainbu-5 where the infection of Bird flu was detected some five days ago. This is the first bird flu case in the district.
