Ms Daphne Caruana Galizia, the 53 years old Maltese journalist and blogger was murdered in a car bombing on Monday in Malta. Ms Caruana Galizia has been investigating and reporting on cases of alleged corruption. She was investigating various issues of transparency and democratic accountability in connection of panama papers.
She was an independent freestyle journalist and blogger who was known for her investigative journalism. According to Council of Europe quoted, ” Ms Daphne Caruana Galizia is the fifth journalist killed in Council of Europe member States in 2017 and the 21st reported since the Council of Europe Platform for the Protection of Journalists became operational in April 2015. The Council of Europe will continue its tireless work on the protection of journalists.”
