It has been officially confirmed that Huawei, the Chinese technology
company has developed its own operating system. The development comes in repercussion of US
government banning and initiating lawsuit against Huawei.
In a fight against the US government, Huawei is suing the US government for not
allowing its federal officials to use the Chinese firm’s telecom equipment over
security concerns. The company has said that the US government has failed to
provide evidence to substantiate the security claims and that the US is acting
unconstitutionally.
Its estimated that Huawei’s networks, numbering over 1,500,
reaches one third of the world’s population. Huawei overtook Ericsson in 2012
as the largest telecommunications-equipment manufacturer in the world and
overtook Apple in 2018 as the second-largest manufacturer of smartphones in the
world, behind Samsung Electronics.
Huawei currently uses Android’s operating system for its smartphone devices and
Windows for its laptop and tablets.
Yu said that moving onto Huawei’s in-house platform was the company’s “plan B” and that “of course we prefer to work with the ecosystems of Google and Microsoft.”
