Lynn St. Amour of the United States has been appointed as the new Chair of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group(MAG) of the Internet Governance Forum(IGF) 2016. She was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The Multistakeholder Advisory Group advises the Secretary-General on the programme of Internet Governance Forum meetings.  It comprises 55 members drawn from Governments, the private sector and civil society, including representatives of the academic and technical communities.

Ms. St. Amour is currently President and CEO of Internet-Matters, an independent, not-for-profit online safety organization.  Active in matters of Internet development and governance, she served from 2001 to 2014 as President and CEO of the Internet Society, a global non-profit dedicated to the open development, evolution and use of the Internet.  She joined the Internet Society in 1998 as Executive Director of its Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, after holding senior positions in Europe and the United States with AT&T and Digital Equipment Corp.

The Secretary-General expresses his deep appreciation to Jānis Kārkliņš, outgoing Chair of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group, for his able guidance since May 2014.
