Nepal Government Issues directives against violent and sexual content

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MoICT) has issues a directive to  Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), to block public’s access to sexual and violent content specifically to porn sites.With the recent  enacted Penal Code has banned the dissemination, publication , broadcasting of any indecent material, the MoICT has directed the telecommunication regulator to start implementing the provision with immediate effect.

The Nepal Government in its press release has clearly stated the negative effects of sexual and violent content over general public and states that it  also promoted sexual crimes and other evil activities.

The government has also urged telecom service providers, internet service providers and the general public not to get involved in the exchange and promotion of such sites.

In the past NTA tried to enforced the concept of using blocking software to prohibit pornographic website where few of the websites are still blocked.
