Pushpa Kamal Dahal(PRACHANDA), the chairman of the CPN Maoist has been announced the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal by Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar. Dahal won by a majority of more than 50 percent votes of the current Parliament.
Out of the total 595 members, only 573 votes were casted where Dahal secured 363 votes. Dahal was backed by the largest party in the House, Nepali Congress, constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front and the Federal Alliance. This is the second time when Dahal has been elected the Prime minister of Nepal. He had led the government after the first Constituent Assembly elections, from August 18, 2008 to May 25, 2009. He had resigned on May 4, 2009 after the controversy for the removal of the Army chief Rookmangud Katawal
