A new regulation has surfaced in view of the US government VISA procedure. All applicants to the USA  are required to submit any information about social media accounts that they have used in the past five years. This has been provisioned under a State Department policy that claims the move will improve national security. With this regulation the department will be able to access photos, locations, dates of birth, dates of milestones and other personal data commonly shared on social media.

The scrutiny of the social media of people is a direct hit on the privacy law of the person. Checking personal information in the name of law and regulation can be a gimmick for the time being but in a civilized and intellectual society it no more than espionage and surveillance.
